Organizing for America

I had an opportunity to go to a meeting sponsored by Organizing for America (OFA). This group is a spin off from the Obama Campaign. The main discussion point at the meeting was how can we as a community can continue to organize and organize efficiently around local initiatives and concerns which also reflect national issues and concerns? One of the comments made at the meeting was that Detroit has a lot of organizations who work on behalf of the community but not on behalf of one another. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how Detroit Organizations can work better as a collective?
