I took the reigns on creating the website for Soldier Rock Fash Bash on July 21, 2008. I've been in discussion daily with Maria Wade, the main producer for the event. We are putting this on as a tribute to the troops and donating 100% of profits to veterans organizations.
It has been a busy past few weeks assembling the website, posting notices around the web and pulling talent in on the project, which languished since concept in November 2007. We are in the final stretch and things are looking great. Support is zooming in from VA chapters, politicians, and business.
There is a call for talent tomorrow, Thursday, July 31 in Mount Clemens - so I won't be attending the planning meeting with BDYM. I'll be busy evaluating runway models, looking through work from fashion designers, and on the other side of Johnny G's Maria will be working with musicians and production assistants.
Update: This call went well, we found additional models, got people in touch with where the show was being held since we met next door to the Emerald Theatre, and discussed the event with everyone.
I'm assembling a team of photographers to work with the various talent interested in being in and promoting the show. Over the next month we'll be setting up photo sessions at locations having military equipment and interest. Photos will be going on the website, created as posters, and merchandised in other forms.
You must REGISTER on the website to be considered talent for the event.
As the Soldier benefit comes up we'll be upon the time for the Million Fathers March. The Soldier concert is on a Sunday with Labor Day immediately following. Many children and their fathers will be taking the walk to school together that Tuesday. It would be great to see publicity at Soldier showing the support of veterans on those days prior to the concert such that it becomes a rallying call for those present at the concert to participate in the Million Fathers March.
