Dedication to a Cause vs My Time

I'm faced with making a move this week. That means my time available for online promotions is being reduced dramatically as I take on packing and coordinating the move.

I NEED your assistance. I keep seeing young people on Facebook and Myspace posting "I'm bored", or answering yet one more silly quiz/survey with pointless answers. What can we (not just me) do to engage them in a different way to use their social networking time? Could they be involved with the Million Father March, GLOW, youth mentoring, and other activities BDYM is working on?

YES

How?? It takes a question and engagement. The question is "are YOU ready to make a difference". The conversation for change is UNCOMMON, it takes courage to engage. You are not part of the status quo, because that is NOT CHANGE. Be a warrior fighting stagnation and boredom.

Get involved with them and encourage them to be involved. Involved in creating a different Detroit. One that has children playing in the parks, people walking to their neighborhood store, dogs being lead down sidewalks by kids on roller skates, ice cream shops as gathering points, and Friday night at the movies with friends.

Engagement means watching what they do when inspired. Give them feedback and encourage more activity. Be part of what they are doing. Assist them when they have needs.
